History of Oregon Electric Group

OEG has been in the electrical contracting industry for more than 60 years. In 1947, Lewis Allison started the company employing only six to seven electricians. In 1959, Buz Allison, his son, took over the business taking on larger and riskier projects.

Over the last 50 years, Oregon Electric Group has become one of the largest electrical contracting companies in the Northwest, with revenues reaching over $90 Million. Specializing in Commercial, Health Care, High Tech, Industrial, Institutional, along with Design Build and Energy Conservation.

In 1998, OEG branched out into the systems arena with Integrated Systems Group (ISG). ISG provides service in Fire & Life Safety, Audio Visual, Voice and Data, Systems Integration, Instrumentation and Controls, HVAC, and a UL 508 Packaged Controls, manufacturing facility.

In September 2001, Oregon Electric Group was purchased by MDU Resources Group, Inc. As an MDU Company, OEG enjoys significant financial resources, business systems support, and access to MDU's national customer base.

MDU is a company that has been in business for 84 years. In 1924, MDU began as an electric company incorporated under the name Minnesota Northern Power Co. in Wausau, Wisconsin.

Since then the company has grown to incorporate many other businesses, including Electric and Natural Gas Distribution, Utility Services, Pipeline and Energy Services, Natural Gas & Oil Production, and Construction Materials and Mining.

Today, MDU provides people throughout the country with conveniences and necessities that make their lives better. MDU designs, builds, maintains and operates facilities that are part of our country's modern infrastructure.
